Cheap bird scarers

I have found this trick works quite well keeping birds off early seeds and strawberries.  Buy some cheap fruit pies at the supermarket and keep the silver cups they come in.  Poke a hole the base and then tie them in twos to some garden string.  Hung on canes over the seed beds they rattle nicely.  I have some ready for the spring.
