Please send me your rain!

April has been extraordinarily dry, less than 5mm, and gardening is getting difficult. Luckily we put potatoes in early and it is still damp further down. The early ones are coming up nicely.  Poor husband has been popping out every few hours to dampen the direct sown carrots in an attempt to get them to come up.
The asparagus bed is throwing up nice spears,

We have had lots of meals with asparagus and some plates with cheese for starters.

Our next big harvest will be 8 broccoli plants we have brought on early in our poly tunnel. They are a bit big and leafy but some nice heads forming. I have taken off some off some of the lowest leaves to give room for some early planted tomatoes.

Hopefully the gardening will now take off. If it rains.

  1. It's the same here in Hampshire, water butts are almost empty.

  2. And we have had nothing but rain here in the eastern US. Wish we could share some with you!

  3. We are very dry here as well. But hopefully the forecast is correct and we will be getting lots of rain over the next few days.

    God bless.
