Two frugal challenges

I have set myself a couple of challenges for the rest of the summer to occupy myself while husband watches all this sport.

First can I make a top for myself from this nice standard size pillowcase I paid 50p for?

Second I am renovating this Ercol style chair found when we demolished the old asbestos garage. It will go in my sewing cabin eventually.  I would really like to paint it sunshine yellow but am having trouble finding cheap paint - best buy so far is £4.95 for buttercup yellow gloss.

In case you are wondering on my sewing cabin progress. I am waiting on the electrician to put in the power supply so I can get going. He turned up to do the quote with his arm in a sling so I don't know if it will get done soon! Husband has made a path and the steps are complete.

Meanwhile I have set up my watercolour paints and am grabbing the odd half an hour to relax.

Have you found things to do while hiding from the sport this summer?

I can just about follow the Olympic cycling and sailing but a lot of the rest is not for me!  As soon as Joe Root and Ali are out in the cricket; I loose interest as it then goes so slowly....... . And thank goodness F1 and the motorcycling racing is on a summer break or I would never see the husband!

  1. My OH is obsessed with watching the Olympics. I don't mind the diving or gymnastics, but aren't really bothered. I catch a bit here and there.

  3. Neither Harvey or I are really interested in the Olympics (even though Canada is doing pretty darn good). We usually just read about the days happenings on line and that if enough.

    God bless.

  4. I'm on my third book, but I also watch some of the sport. The diving last night was brilliant followed by the men's gymnastics.

  5. Hubby has been watching the archery, loves F1,Moto GP etc I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. I'm not a sport watching person!

  6. I detest watching most sport, with the exception of championship golf - I love The Open (he UK Open I mean) and the Masters from Augusta each year. But much of the 'Limpix' as they tend to call them, leave me cold. Somuch is pretty darned silly, when it boils down to it. Beach volley ball, for example. This is for children on a beach. And trampoline ditto. Why not egg & spoon and the sack race then? Or the three-legged race? Anyone for 'statues' which, as a child, we'd play at parties!
