Purple french beans
Grew these this year along side some ordinary green french beans and getting a handful every few days despite the heat and dryness that are stunting growth.
Am I over cooking them? Tried steaming and a light boil with the fresh peas. But they come out looking green too? Still they taste nice!

I'm afraid the purple ones don't keep their colour when they're cooked. They do look nice uncooked and they are easier to find than the green ones when they're on the vine. I'm growing cosse violette this year and the little flowers are so pretty too.
ReplyDeleteI've been told the yellow french beans do stay yellow when cooked though.
I thought we were growing yellow courgettes but they have all turned out green!
DeleteAs Mandy says, they lose their purple when cooked, but much easier to harvest. My dwarf beans are doing really well.
