Spring is slowly coming here and will accelerate after today's heatwave. Our hedge of British natural species at the end of our field is almost looking like a hedge after 3 years. A couple of them have flowers. There are several dog roses included and I can't wait to see if we get some blooms this year.
Our veg garden is gradually drying out but we know it is soggy underneath so are keeping off till the weekend. Pity our neighbour (80 feet away) was not so impatient - he buried his tractor in a soft spot on Tuesday and will have to wait for the ground to firm up before getting a tow out!
In our poly tunnel the ground is very dry and warm and I harvested a few salad leaves and a couple of small radish for lunch.
Ooops, one unhappy farmer!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has been a beautiful day
We are in The New Forest, there is loads of standing water, we have never seen so much water here.
ReplyDeleteOur weather seems to have turned more spring like. I will be heading out once all the snow is gone from the backyard to see if my perennials made it through the winter. Glad to see yours did and you even managed to harvest a few radishes.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It is ABSOLUTELY boiling today. Our ground seems to dry out very quickly and now I'm worried that the onions and pots are too dry! One extreme to the other. I bet there was a few choice words said by farmer.
ReplyDeleteHe's 85 and going a little batty! We never see his family there and fear the day is coming when he feels it is all to much on his own. Sympathetic but trying not to get too involved as tractors are dangerous things especially one in that state!
DeleteWe went fishing yesterday and the van sank , but they do have a tractor for these occasions , everywhere is still waterlogged but im going to be brave and do a bit of planting today
